Family cars are, of course, an important part of the life of any dad. After all, we only recently assessed the Audi Q3 RS. (A great family ride, of course!) But perhaps the Audi Q3 RS didn’t quite float your boat. Perhaps you already knew that it was a great car for the family. Maybe you’ve got your eye on something a bit more classic, but also a bit more unconventional. Whatever car you decide on getting, it’s important to make sure that you get the right one for you and your family. There are loads of different types of cars you can get though, for example, you might decide that you like the look of something like this cutlass at autozin. However, the decision is up to you.
Classic and unconventional, you say? Well, there’s one car that definitely comes to mind when you combine those words. That’s right: the Mini. The Mini has been an item of great curiosity for many geeks over the years. (Which may or may not have something to do with The Italian Job.) But the classic Mini, as many people once pictured it, was discontinued in 2000.
If you were picturing that much smaller ride – the kind you would have seen in The Italian Job – I’m sure the title question made you snort. “There’s no way that could be a decent family car!”, I hear you exclaim. And you’re right: those tiny things simply wouldn’t have worked for the big, modern family. People do overestimate how small they were, but they were definitely pretty darn small. (People also tend to underestimate how powerful they were!)
Today, of course, the Mini is something different. It keeps a lot of the classic vibe, and it’s still one of the smaller cars on the market. But it’s definitely a lot more practical by modern standards. Still, the new Minis suffer from the same problem the Minis have always suffered from. People have overestimated their smallness and underestimated their power! The selection of vehicles on the market today has also expanded, meaning there are more cars than ever for the Mini to compete with and, with sites like Zemotor, Mini must fight to keep their vehicles appealing and attractive when up against strong alternatives.
The Mini, of course, has been growing. Since the “new Mini” hit the stores in 2001, each new iteration has been bigger than the last. But your average Mini certainly isn’t the size of your average sedan, there’s no question about that. This doesn’t mean, however, that the current Mini would make for a bad family vehicle .Quite the opposite, actually.
Smaller cars seem to be becoming cool again. People are becoming more and more conscious about the environment as well as their finances. SUV sales may be up, but more people than ever are taking a look at the smaller options. But the Mini isn’t just attractive because it saves money and has great fuel economy. The most recent iterations of the CooperMini have put a premium on performance and space.
The fact is that the designers seem to have struck gold when it comes to the spacing in these things. They’ve managed to keep the hatchback style while creating extra legroom and storage space. Five-door Minis were once considered an impossibility. But they’re out there now, and more families than ever are using them. Whether you want to buy the car outright or want to check out All Car Leasing hatchbacks leasing deals, Mini’s are great cars.
Of course, there are going to be certain scenarios where the Mini might not suit you best. If you’re traveling up and down the country a lot with your family, you may find yourself wanting more space. A Mini certainly won’t be able to accommodate enough space for msa drawers, which many make use of for storage on long journeys. In cases like these, a much bigger car, like a 4×4, may be a better option. To be honest with you, though, the vast majority of cars will make you feel that way if you spend long enough in them. For everyday family use the new Minis have proven themselves worthy.
